carpets of symmetry - leafs
I have just added the new series —“carpets of symmetry - leafs” — to my work: “forfreeandoutside” ,”autumnblues” and “springmood”. The creation process has been a three-step approach:
Taking a long-time exposure very close to a tree stem directed to its crown while rotating the camera multiple times on the horizontal level at a certain rhythm.
Crop the photo image digitally to an interesting subarea, either chosen based on entropy or on sharpness or on some other crtieria
In a third post-processing step the original photo is digitally mirrored four times - horizontally and vertically, yielding a four-quadrant symmetrical image
The results is a puzzling pattern that reminds me to complex-woven carpets.
